About
Overview
USF's Mathematics Education program offers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees.
Our Bachelors and Master of Arts in Teaching programs are designed to prepare effective teachers of middle and high school mathematics who are knowledgeable, reflective, caring, and are able to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Successful completion of one of these programs leads to certification in grades and 6-12 mathematics in the State of Florida.
Our programs include courses in mathematics, pedagogy, teaching methods, and classroom management with an ongoing emphasis on effective technology use in the classroom and equitable mathematics instruction. Authentic classroom experiences are also embedded in our programs through teaching practicum course and a final internship.
The Masters in Education (M.Ed) program is designed for professional educators who wish to pursue advanced study in mathematics education. The primary objective is to prepare instructional leaders through courses in curriculum, methods, supervision, learning principles, human interaction, and areas of specialization (mathematics and/or mathematics education).
Our doctoral concentration is part of the College of Education's PhD program in Curriculum and Instruction and is designed to prepare mathematics education professionals to engage in research, as well as facilitate means to promote reform practices relative to mathematics teaching and learning.
