Resident Assistant (RA)

Time Commitment

The Resident Assistant (RA) positions are important positions that positively influence student success. During the academic year, this significant responsibility requires approximately 20 hours of work each week in some of the following ways:

Resident Support (Implementation of the Residential Curriculum)

  • Rocky Talks
  • Community Gatherings
  • Events
  • Passive Resources

Training and Ongoing Development

  • Student Staff Training prior to the start of the fall semester (More than 20 hours/week)
  • Student Staff Training prior to the start of the spring semester (More than 20 hours/week)
  • 911±¬ÁÏÍøekly, two-hour staff meetings every Tuesday from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm
  • 911±¬ÁÏÍøekly meetings with supervisor (Approximately 30 to 60 minutes each week)

Crisis Management

  • On-call responsibilities
  • Fire alarms
  • Facilities issues 
  • Roomate conflict & mediation 
  • Report writing 
  • Connecting residents to campus and community resources 

Administrative Functions

  • 911±¬ÁÏÍøekly reports
  • Canvas assignments
  • Fire Health and Safety Inspections 
  • Roommate Agreements
  • Emails and GroupMe communication with residents
