Ray Baker

Ray Baker

Mr. Ray Baker is the recepient of the 2024 Jean Key Gates Distinguished Alumni Award. Ray is a 2016 graduate from the School of Information and a current member of our Adjunct Faculty.  He has been Director of the Miami-Dade Public Library System since 2017, leading one of the largest public library systems in the United States, with 50 library locations and 800 dedicated library employees serving over 2.7 million residents.  This year alone, the Miami-Dade Public Library System was named the Florida Library Association Library of the Year, received a 2024 Innovation Award from the Urban Libraries Council, and received 77 National Association of Counties Achievement (NaCO) Awards, including one Best-in-Category for achievement in libraries and government services. He teaches LIS 5020 Foundations of Library and Information Science and LIS 6445 Seminar in Public Libraries.

Shedriek Battle

Shedriek battle is the Administrative Librarian (branch manager) at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library located in the Ybor City area of Tampa, Florida. He is a library professional with 20 over years of experience in just about every arena of public library service. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he鈥檚 resided in Florida for almost 25 years. He attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville where he received a B.A. in psychology. His library career began in 2004 at age 18 as a Library Clerk with the Jacksonville Public Library, later promoting to Library Associate overseeing youth services at a regional library and continuing to learn and grow in the library field working in a wide variety of libraries and departments. In 2013 he began working for the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library as a Library Technical Assistant and later enrolled in the 911爆料网鈥檚 Master of Library & Information Science program in the spring semester of 2017, graduating summer 2018. An FLA Scholarship Award winner in 2018, he would later serve for four years (2019-2023) on the same committee that awarded him.  He rose through the ranks in Tampa鈥檚 library system to the position of branch manager. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute (2023) and a member of ALA and FLA. He is passionate about library advocacy, public service, and the library鈥檚 role in serving the community.

Andrew Breidenbaugh

Andrew has been a librarian with the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library since April, 1997. He earned his M.L.S. degree at the 911爆料网鈥檚 School of Library & Information Science in 1996. He has also earned an M.A. in Middle Eastern History at the University of Maryland, and a B.A. in History & Asian Studies at Towson University.

Andrew began his library career as an adjunct librarian in the Reference Department of the 911爆料网鈥檚 Tampa Campus Library. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at USF鈥檚 School of Library & Information Science, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses for basic reference and Internet resources. He is an active member of the American Library Association and the Florida Library Association. In his time at the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library, Andrew has held a variety of positions including: Coordinator of the Electronic Reference & Information Department; Line Reference & Information Services Coordinator; Chief Librarian for the South County Region, South Tampa Region & the John F. Germany Public Library, and Manager of Library Technology & Collections. Currently, Andrew serves in his current position as Director, and has been in that role since 2015.

Tara Brigham

Tara Brigham is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education and the Supervising Librarian of the Library at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Tara received an M.L.I.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 and began her library career working with the Minnesota State Law Library in St. Paul, Minnesota. She joined Mayo Clinic in 2010 as an Academic and Research Assistant, providing editorial support on numerous grant and manuscript submissions. In 2011, Tara was hired as the primary librarian for the Mayo Clinic in Florida. In this role and as of 2015, as the supervising librarian, she expanded library services and resources to clinical faculty, staff, and learners in Florida, including providing systematic review searching assistance. Her interest in emphasizing the librarian's role and improving the quality of evidence synthesis projects was stimulated by her work and resulted in co-authoring highly regarded publications which have won various awards, such as MLA's Ida and George Eliot Prize. 

Tara routinely presents at conferences and has served in several roles in library-related associations, such as the Medical Library Association, Southern Chapter of MLA, and the Florida Health Sciences Library Association. Active participation in the librarian profession allowed her to become a Distinguished Member of the Medical Library Association's Academy of Health Information Professionals in 2020. Tara's research interests include examining the reproducibility of evidence synthesis projects, investigating the broader implications of current events and technologies (such as AI and machine learning) in libraries, and exploring how librarian professionals can highlight their expertise and value.

Todd Chavez

Todd received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Master of Arts degree in Library and Information Science from the 911爆料网. He currently serves as the Dean for the USF Libraries. His research focuses on the intersection between library and information science and interdisciplinary research, with a current focus on natural history and the geosciences.

Chavez鈥檚 areas of expertise include library administration, digital library/collection implementation and management, open-access publishing, digital scholarship, and geoscience information research.

Current activities include the Florida Environment & Natural History Collection initiative and the USF Herbarium; ongoing projects include the Karst Information Portal project. During his tenure at the USF Libraries, Chavez launched several strategic directions including the Center for Digital Heritage & Geospatial Information, the Data Analytics Team, the Open-Access Publishing team, and the institution鈥檚 digital repository of scholarly output. Past projects include data management for the Center for Integrated Modeling & Analysis of Gulf Ecosystems I-III, the Gulf Oil Spill Information Center, the Cave Mineral Database, the Ethiopian National Research Databank, and digital collections supporting sustainability research at Costa Rica鈥檚 Monteverde Research Institute.

In addition to his primary duties, Chavez has published and presented on bibliometric analyses of scientific research, information portal design and deployment, and the role of 鈥済rey literature鈥 in interdisciplinary scholarship. His articles and presentations appear in Publishing Research Quarterly, Numeracy, the Journal of Cave & Karst Studies, and the Proceedings of the 18th National Cave and Karst Management Symposium.

Chavez served on the Digital Initiatives Advisory Board for the Medieval Academy of America, the USF Associate Deans for Research Committee, the Provost鈥檚 Chairs Steering Committee, and is a founding member of the international Karst Information Portal Project collaboration. His current assignment places him on the University of South Florida鈥檚 Campus Leadership Council, the Council of Deans, the SACSCOC Steering Committee, and the Information Technology Management Council. Kelly Doty

Kelly Doty is the Senior Manager of Programs and Services at Tampa Bay Library Consortium, Inc. (TBLC) where she manages grant-funded services for both regional and statewide library programs including the Regional Continuing Education program for Central Florida鈥檚 libraries and Ask a Librarian, Florida鈥檚 statewide virtual reference service.

Previously employed at Temple Terrace Public Library and Keiser University - Lakeland, Kelly鈥檚 work experience has positioned her to understand the growing needs of both academic and public library staff. In the Multi-type Cooperative environment at TBLC, Kelly has the opportunity to work with even more types of libraries to plan and provide introductory to advanced training topics in their respective fields and expertise, giving her a full appreciation for the multitude of services and resources libraries provide to their communities.

 Kelly graduated with her MLIS in 2014 from 911爆料网 where she also received her B.A. in Mass Communications with a focus in Broadcast News. In 2018, she became a graduate of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute.

Edenia Hernandez

Strategic and effective Municipal Administrator with 25+ years of public service experience in various departments with more than 18 years in middle management in multi-disciplines and 7 of municipal administrator and department head experience. Analytical leadership and achievement-oriented delivery of innovative library services, with experience in technology development, human resources, systems implementation, educational public service.  Through engagement of diverse communities and needs analysis, I鈥檝e envisioned & strategically developed a shared vision with staff and international institutions to transform libraries, cultural and immigrant services departments. A proven ability to identify needs and opportunities that result in the increase of economic development in the cities served.  Edenia is an empathetic leader with a keen ability to create in problem solving opportunities that result in positive relations with constituents and stakeholders.  A proven visionary and developer that innovates and delivers transformation that results in recognition of library services. Experience in systems assessment and implantation of programs necessary to transform services that increase end user satisfaction and usage of services offered. Library led Cultural and Arts Services, member of SMART Cities Committee, partnership development, Grant writing, editing and submittal (For a Bright Future Foundation, The Children鈥檚 Trust, Dollar General, ALA, etc.), have provided additional opportunities to grow and excel in problem solving, presentations in English and Spanish, and collaboration and exchanges with other countries such as Spain, Peru, China and most recently Taiwan.  A successful and proven professional with a desire to share knowledge gained with other energetic professionals.   

Molly Knapp

Molly Knapp, MA, AHIP,  is a Training Development Manager at the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Training Office (https://nnlm.gov) and Full Librarian at the University of Utah Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library. With over 23 years of experience in academic health sciences libraries,  her current role includes developing and leading national level training initiatives at NNLM. You may know her from popular NNLM training series such as the webinar 鈥淗ow PubMed Works: Introduction鈥 and the online class 鈥淏ioinformatics and Biology Essentials for Librarians.鈥 A Distinguished Member of the Medical Library Association鈥檚 Academy of Health Information Professionals, she has been a librarian since 2002, and joined the NNLM in 2016. Molly serves on the Medical Library Association Executive Board (2025-2028), and is a member of the on Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL)/MLA Joint Educational Research/Assessment Task Force (2023-2025). She is Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal Medical Reference Services Quarterly, and the author of numerous publications. 

Chad Mairn

Chad Mairn is a Professor and founder of the Innovation Lab (iLab) at St. Petersburg College. While an undergraduate studying Humanities at the 911爆料网 (USF), Chad was awarded a Library of Congress Fellowship helping archive personal papers and other items in the Leonard Bernstein Collection. During his Library and Information Science graduate work, also at USF, Chad became a technology liaison between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Florida public libraries.

Over its 10+ year history, the iLab has secured funding from several grants, including a $7,500 Curiosity Creates grant from the Walt Disney Company and ALA鈥檚 Association for Library Service to Children to expand their Maker Boot Camp series, which fostered creativity in children ages 6 to 14. The program integrated key creativity skills such as imagination, decision-making, collaboration, and self-expression. In June 2022, the iLab received a $10,000 grant from the International Space Station National Lab to launch a "Space Lab" project, utilizing resources from NASA, ISS Space Station Explorers (SSE) educational partners, and other STEM educational partners. More recently, a $258,735 grant from the Florida Department of Commerce for the Digital Connectivity Technology Program was awarded to help bridge the digital divide in underserved Florida communities by providing laptops and digital literacy opportunities.

Chad's recent work centers on emerging technologies. He has authored book chapters and numerous articles on the societal impact of technology. Currently, he writes the "From the Innovation Lab" column for Computers in Libraries magazine. In 2016, Chad was awarded the League of Innovation Excellence Award in Teaching and Learning for Innovation in the Use of Technology. 

Chad Mairn is also a faculty member in the School of Information at San Jos茅 State University, teaching INFO 200 Information Communities, which explores how social, cultural, economic, technological, and political forces shape information access and use by individuals. John Milburn

John Milburn is currently in his 15th year as Supervisor of Library Media Services for Elementary Schools in Hillsborough County Public Schools.  Prior to this role, he was an elementary classroom teacher for 6 years and an elementary school library media specialist for 9 years.  He was recognized as his schools' Teacher of the Year three times and received the 2020 Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) Administrator's Advocacy Award.  He has served on the leadership board of the Florida Association for Supervisors of Media (FASM) and is an evaluator for the Florida Power-Library School Award program.  He is a proud graduate of the 911爆料网.

Tammy  Parrott 

Tammy Parrott is a library administrator with 18 years of public library experience. She currently serves as the Library Services Manager for Manatee County, Florida, overseeing operations for eight library locations serving 440,000 residents. Her responsibilities include managing an annual budget of $17 million and leading the delivery of all library services across the county.

Tammy holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Park University, a Master of Arts in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

She began her library career at the front desk of her neighborhood library as a part-time clerk. Over the course of her career, Tammy has managed libraries of all sizes 鈥 from very rural to very urban, and very affluent communities. One of the greatest joys in her work is ensuring that library staff have the tools and resources they need to provide excellent service, a topic on which she has presented professionally. The recently completed Lakewood Ranch Branch Library marks her third library construction project.

Originally from the Midwest, Tammy has long considered Florida a second home, thanks to many visits over the years and the appeal of its coastal lifestyle. She and her husband enjoy sailboat racing and spending time on the beaches of Manatee County.

Angelina Vigliotti

Angelina Marie Vigliotti is the student services and reference librarian in the Dolly and Homer Hand Law Library. She is also an Instructor of Law at Stetson University College of Law and teaches Advanced Legal Research: Artificial Intelligence in Legal Research. Professor Vigliotti serves as the faculty advisor for the Catholic Law Student Association. Previously, she was the 2022 summer assistant in the Research Services Department of the Supreme Court of the United States. She attended The Catholic University of America where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Classical Civilization, with minors in Art History, History, and Medieval and Byzantine Studies. She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and her M.L.I.S from the 911爆料网. Her scholarship is primarily focused on Indigenous law, academic law librarianship, and the use of artificial intelligence in legal research. She recently contributed a book chapter on Indigenous data sovereignty to A Research Agenda for Cybersecurity Law and Policy published by Edward Elgar.
