A new preclinical study has discovered that a lack of BIN1 leads to a defect in the transmission of neurotransmitters that activate the brain cell communication allowing us to think, remember and behave. Led by Gopal Thinakaran, Ph.D., of USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and colleagues at the University of Chicago, the study was published March 10 in Cell Reports (Medical Xpress).

911±¬ÁÏÍø's new research building is ready to go up along Fowler Avenue, a street that gets roughly 50,000 cars driving past every day. The new building is slated to host companies — both startups and established — along with offices, laboratories, meeting spaces, retail and dining options and a rooftop overlooking the research park (Tampa Bay Business Journal).

USF Food Insecurity Study Prompts Changes to Local School Lunch Program
Low-income teenagers facing food insecurity were more likely to eat cheese sandwiches during school lunch and be bullied because of it according to a recent study conducted by USF researchers. The study was designed to learn about the ways in which teens face food scarcity and on what changes they would like to see (USF Newsroom).

Researchers have made a breakthrough to minimise the chances of pregnancy-related complications such as miscarriages, preeclampsia and foetal growth restriction. The study, led by USF Health Morsani College of Medicine researchers, has found how a very large human non-protein coding gene regulates epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (ANI).
