USF World launches support fund to aid international students affected by COVID-19

International students are not eligible for financial assistance that U.S. students receive from the federal CARES Act. In order to support these students and help them fulfill their dreams of completing their degree at USF, the USF World International Student Support Fund was created.

In 1914, John Evans was lynched in St. Petersburg. Evans was accused of the murder of the real estate developer Ed Sherman and attacking Sherman’s wife. Evans was a laborer who was recently fired by Sherman. Though never identified and never given a trial, Evans was arrested and thrown in jail. On the night of November 12, a mob took him from the jail, and in front of 1,500 people from the local community, hanged him from a light post.

USF engineers create ‘ear savers,’ providing relief to health professionals treating coronavirus patients
Medical professionals are required to wear face masks, often continuously during 14-hour shifts. The elastic bands can be painful, and cause sores and headaches. In order to improve their comfort, engineers at the USF College of Engineering have manufactured a special plastic strip that’s lined with hooks, making the straps adjustable.
