Professor Marilyn Stern Invited to Present at National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health Hot Topic 911±¬ÁÏÍøbinar Series
RMHC Professor Marilyn Stern, who studies interventions for obesity in rural Latino youth, was invited to participate in an April 27 webinar, . The event is part of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) Hot Topic 911±¬ÁÏÍøbinar series and is being held in commemoration of National Minority Health Month.
Dr. Stern is presenting with Maria Pinzon, MA, Executive Director of . They will share their experience working together on a research grant targeting Latinos living in the rural communities around Tampa who are at increased risk for obesity and obesity-related complications in adulthood including metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
This work addresses an urgent public health epidemic, and is innovative as it implements a unique intervention that addresses many limitations in the current state of obesity prevention and employs a rigorous scientific approach.
